1995, Temesvar, Czech Republic
Prof. Mach, Department of Electrotechnology of the Prague University of Technology, organized from June 26th to 30th, 1995, the "18th International Spring Seminar on Electronic Technology" in the Education Center of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Temesvar, held about the subject "Advanced Electronics Technology", focused on diagnostic methods for electrical and electronic technology. Therefore numerous contributions were given about tests, measurement, quality and reliability. 37 participants from 8 nations presented their latest results. 52 papers were printed in the proceedings (281 pages).
The leadership of the Department of Electrotechnology in Prague from Prof. Ryšánek was transmitted to Prof. Mach shortly before. Therefore Prof. Mach became a new member of the Steering Committee. Prof. Ryšánek continued with an honor membership. His work during the past years was a decisive contribution for the development of all the seminars. In the proceedings of the 18th seminar he wrote under the title "Seminar with a tradition of many years - ISSE":
"A remarkably long tradition of these meetings of specialists from many countries brought together by their professional interests was started in the year 1974 at the occasion of the celebration of the 25 anniversary of the foundation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Among many from abroad there were also Prof. Ambrozy from Budapest and Prof. Gerber from Dresden. These guests visited our Department of Electrotechnology and met Prof. Ryšánek. As the faculties of electrical engineering in Dresden and Budapest had been founded later than our faculty, and our faculty had good results in technological education, our guests were interested about our experience both in pedagogical activities and in research too.
During the discussion we found many common points of interest to be spoken which was not possible during this official meeting, and so arose the idea to organize regular meetings of members of these faculties, because such meetings, which would be connected with similar celebrations like this our anniversary, are rather exceptional. Because this action was held in spring, there was taken a decision to call these seminars "International Spring Seminars". For the dealing language was chosen English. One of the main aims of these seminars was to encourage the activity in publication of our young participants.
In order to evenly distribute the organization activity a decision was taken cyclically to move each year the organization of the seminars each year within the participating universities. The organization department is responsible for issuing the proceedings containing the contributions to these seminars."
